Housing:
Hedgehogs do well in several types of cages.
Ferret Cages -
Great ventilation, easy to clean. Lots of room
for your hedgehog. Spaces between wire bars should be no more than 1/2 inch, or the hedgehog can get stuck. If ramps are too high,
they can fall off and get hurt. Sides on the ramps will help to protect the hedgehog.
Sterilite/Rubbermaid Storage Containers
-
Needs to be at least 94 Quarts. Make sure they have a flat bottom (no ridge around the side), or their exercise wheel will move
around. These are easy to clean and inexpensive.
Aquariums -
30 gallon or larger. These are easy to clean, and you can see through.
These do not have good ventilation however.
Rabbit Cages -
Good size for hedgehogs. Make sure the bottom is solid. Hedgehogs
can sometimes get hurt trying to climb up the sides of these.
